For me, 2024 has already been full of surprises. I did not expect when the year got underway that I would be telling our cherished network of clients and colleagues this news: I will be accepting an exciting new role and winding down Open Impact at the end of 2024.
I’ve been offered a unique opportunity to make the kind of change I want to see in the world, which is more accelerated and holistic action to address a growing list of systemic inequities. When I first began providing philanthropic advising services over a decade ago, the Sobrato family, which includes two signatories of the Giving Pledge, was my very first client. In a full-circle moment, I will be joining The Sobrato Organization as both Chief Impact Officer and the President of Sobrato Philanthropies, which has granted over $1B to date, largely focused on community-based organizations and needs.
I will continue my role with Open Impact through the end of the year, so it’s premature to share any final thoughts. Our Open Impact team continues to bring our fullest energy to our current roster of client partners until every deliverable is finalized to our highest standards. To accomplish this, we aren’t taking on new projects or clients.
